Pocket Hand Held Terminal Features

Flexible Connectivity
PocketHHT supports the concept of multiple connection possibilities. The user can configure a specific serial port and address scan range appropriate to one scenario and then configure another connection to address a different requirement. The user benefits by being 'up and configuring' faster than ever before.

Function Finder allows the user to locate functions in all HART devices. This is especially useful with complex devices and allows the user to navigate without a specific field device manual.

The example shows an E+H Prowirl 72.

In this case the user wants to change the 20mA setting for the device. The required search text is entered, the search is initiated and a list of all parameters whose label match the text is displayed. A single stylus touch takes the user directly to the required parameter.

DD (Device Description) Extensions allow custom functionality, traditionally not available in a Hand-Held terminal, to be available in PocketHHT. Such functions include echo curve for Time of Flight level transmitters, valve signatures from positioner actuators and custom calibration routines. OFC produce a DD extension in conjunction with the field device manufacturer and this can be 'bolted on' during an 'on-line' session to enable this special functionality.

New and updated PocketHHT device descriptions are automatically delivered directly to the Pocket PC from Open Field Connuncations. This synchonisation occurs via the Internet (the simplest and fastest distribution technique available), and provides users immediate access to new devices. The compact size of PocketHHT DDs - the average DD size being around 20kB - mean that even the remote synchronisation of DDs via mobile phone is a viable and afforable method of updating the DD library.
