Inventory monitoring and control applications have increasing requirements for local and remote visualisations that connect to industrial strength databases.
Fieldgate Web Middleware (FWM) is an application that collects, stores and serves information originating from one or more Endress + Hauser Fieldgates. Once collected, FWM allows the data to be
- served for visualisation via simple, configurable HTML
- stored to an industrial-strength database (Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase)
Visualisations, rendered in HTML, turn every workstation with a web browser into a SCADA client without any additional licensing cost. FWM acheives this simply and effectively by converting field device data into HTML-ready representations such as:
- Text
- PNG / GIF Images
- Graphic elements, (bar graphs, dials etc)
- Trending graphs, paramaterisable in pure HTML
- Mathemeatic modules (for dynamic mass and volume corrections or other mathematic functions)
- Alternate XML representations
FWM's large array of (HTML-friendly) graphical elements means limitless possibilities for visualising plant inventory data.
What this means is that comprehensive visualisations of process and inventory variables (including trending) can be created and configured with a basic knowledge of HTML. Plant engineering staff can create and customise their own data views using graphical elements served directly from FWM. This simple but effective technique puts the power of customization for graphic visualisations within the reach of plant engineering staff without the need for custom development environments or expensive consulting assignments.
An FWM interface can be configured for any existing Fieldgate installation. FWM runs on a central server (Microsoft, or Unix-based) that is accessed by all potential network clients.
